Horsebreeding

Horsebreeding from Höfðabakki has been small. We have only used three to five mares a year for breeding.

The first mare is Ósk from Hafnarfjörður that we own and she has been giving us good stallions especially horses with good abilities. These past years we have been taking Óskars daughter into our breeding. They are Sverta coming from Ófeigur 818. We only have one offspring from her, that is Svertingi 6 years old coming from Safír from Viðvík. Her owner is Sigurður Matthíasson. She has got many prizes for pace. She has paced best 150 metres in 13,8 seconds.

Next there is Smella coming from Gustur from Grund. She has first prize for ability and also 9,0 for pace. ( See offspring on the offspringlist). Then we have Stikla from Andvari Ey She has firstprize for ability and also 9,5 for tölt and 9,0 for gallop and hoofs.

The third in the row is Snilld coming from Kjarkur from Egilstaðabæ. She is a first prize mare with 8,39 for ability, 9,0 for pace, will and good temper. We are now using these three daughters and Óskars for breeding.

We have also used Freyja 7400 form Efri-Þverá for breeding. She was born to us. From her we have got good riding horses, but few mares. We only own two of these mares Sjana from Höfðabakki that has been giving us good horses for example Dagrún who has gotten many prizes for tölt. The other mare is Freisting only 4 years old. We have big expectation for her.
